Mission Statement: | The Sawtelle Learning Centers relocated the north program and administrative offices to its present site in 1992. The Centers serve children with by autism from 3 to 21 years of age through a behaviorally-based teaching model. Emphasis for young students is on language acquisition, appropriate social skills, and transitional skills (where appropriate). The emphasis for the older student is on career readiness and vocational training, communication skill training, and community skills training. The preschools have a one to one ratio, all other classes have two to one ratio. In addition, extensive parent training programs and parent and sibling support groups are offered. The Sawtelle Learning Centers present a comprehensive program for children with autism and their families throughout the State of New Jersey. |
