Mission Statement: | Shepard School has middle school and high school programs designed to help students with behavioral and learning disabilities. Students in the middle school program are taught appropriate social coping mechanisms and study skills that aid them in managing both academic and social expectations. Shepard School utilizes a copyrighted evidence based, social emotional learning program, coupled with a differentiated specialized delivery of the NJCCCS to promote behavioral stability, self-esteem, adaptive functioning and academic success. Middle school students may move up to Shepard's high school program in Kinnelon or to Shepard Preparatory High School in Morristown. Secondary instruction at the Kinnelon campus is designed for students with multiple disabilities, particularly with acute learning and emotional needs. The program implements a curriculum which emphasizes both academics and preparation for post-secondary experiences. Instruction is provided in the areas of career exploration.
