Mission Statement:The Essex Valley School is a comprehensive, therapeutic, alternative school for students, grades 5-12 who have been diagnosed with behavior disorders. The counseling program provides individual and group counseling. The Clinical staff consists of a Consulting Psychiatrist, three School Psychologists, three Social Workers and a Speech/Language Pathologist. Essex Valley School's curriculum is aligned to the NJDOE's Core Curriculum Content Standards. The school is a member of the National Honor Society. A cooperative arrangement with Essex County Community College enables EVS students to earn college credit for Foundation of Math and English courses taken at EVS during their senior year. In addition to traditional academic programs, instruction is provided in automotive repair, landscaping, cosmetology, culinary arts, wood-working, digital media production, music production and art. An Extended School Year program is available for students as indicated by their IEP. The program is in session during the month of July.
