"Opening the Door to Success"

November 13, 2009 at the Atlantic City Convention Center

ASAH will be holding its annual conference on Friday, November 13, 2009. More than 1,500 educators, caregivers, representative of service organizations and family members of those with special education needs are expected to attend.

KEYNOTE ADDRESS: David DeNotaris

David DeNotaris, No Sight, Great Vision!

Master Motivator and Dean of Self-Esteem!  David is a World Champion Athlete, Best Selling Author, Inspirational Speaker, husband and father and also happens to be totally blind.

 Opening the Door to Success!

David was born with a rare eye condition      Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) a disorder that would eventually cause David’s total blindness when he was 19 years young.

David faced many closed doors as a child; experts insisted his life was “hopeless”. “He’ll never get a normal education” the experts told David’s parents. David faced many closed doors of negativity, discouragement and discrimination from children, teachers, coaches etc.  Many insisting blind kids should just sit on the side.

Through hard work, dedication, and a powerful support network, David travels throughout the country speaking to fortune 500 companies, government agencies, schools and universities on the topic of transforming obstacles in to opportunities.

David earned his M.A. in Administration Supervision Leadership Training and Development from Montclair State University in 2004 and was nominated and selected to deliver the graduate address at the Continental Airlines Arena for over 17000 in attendance.

David will educate, inform and entertain with real-life, time-tested and useable strategies for opening doors that are tightly closed.

David will focus on the “Get REAL” method

 R: Relationships

How to develop them, nurture them and build upon them.

 E: Expectations

“If you aim for nothing, you’ll hit it right on the head” David DeNotaris

No student rises to a low expectation, expect the best!

 A: Attitude

It is our Attitude not our Aptitude that will determine our Altitude.

One of the few things we have total control over is our attitude toward ourselves and the people around us.  David will share ideas, techniques and insights for developing and maintaining a winning attitude.  Professionals do their best when they feel like it least!

 L: Leadership

Leadership in the classroom, on the playground, in the boardroom and beyond!  Leadership can be learned, leaders see possibilities when others see problems, leaders get curious not furious, leaders get better when others are getting bitter!

  • Helping kids “FIT” in not “SIT” out.
  • Diversity not adversity, many people many ideas
  • The power of Teamwork and much much more!
